Senior researchers and postdoc allies delivered an Open Letter, signed by a majority of Scientists and Instructors.
Last Thursday, senior researchers from across Sinai delivered an Open Letter to the Mount Sinai administration, signed by a majority of Instructors and Scientists, urging them to bargain intensively to reach a fair agreement in a timely manner.
The next day, we were able to meet with the Sinai administration to try to resolve this issue. At the meeting, Sinai agreed to bargain on campus at the following dates and times:
-
Friday, November 21st from 2-4pm (this afternoon)
-
Monday, December 1st from 3-5pm.
We are glad that Sinai was willing to agree to bargain on campus at these times so that bargaining can move forward today. At the same time, this amounts to just one hour of bargaining for each unit every two weeks, far below what other major research institutions in the city have agreed to, and below the three hours per week that we proposed.
It is clear that the Sinai administration is still not approaching our negotiations with a sense of urgency, despite our significant contributions to the institutions’ research mission. It is critically important that we continue to urge them to avoid unnecessary delays so we can reach an agreement in a timely manner.
We will update everyone with the outcome of today’s session. You can click here to RSVP as an observer to our session on December 1st.
