The NLRB just finished counting ballots and both Instructors and Scientists voted overwhelmingly in favor of Researchers Organizing Committee at Sinai-UAW (ROCS-UAW) as our union! Here is the breakdown of results:
-
Instructors voted by 95% (44-yes to 2-no) in favor.
-
Scientists voted by 91% (51-yes to 5-no) in favor.
We will have more information soon regarding next steps in our campaign. For now, we want to thank everyone who participated in our historic election and in the months of discussion, debate, and outreach among senior researchers that lead to this point.
Together, we have finally won the right to determine our role as researchers at Mount Sinai, taking an unprecedented stand for the value of the work we do at our institution.
We’re heading over to Lexington Publick (1504 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10029) now celebrate our victory. Please join us! We hope to see you there!
In solidarity,
Elza Rechtman
