At our first bargaining session on October 1, Sinai insisted that future sessions be held only at their offices on 42nd Street instead of on the main campus (Upper East Side), where most of us work, or over Zoom. We explained that traveling to 42nd Street would disrupt our work and slow down negotiations. Both sides confirmed their availability for a second bargaining session on October 23 and agreed to finalize the location over email beforehand.
However, two days before the scheduled session, Sinai informed us that they were canceling it, citing the unresolved location question as the reason, without making any attempt to resolve it without cancelling the session.
To address their concerns and keep bargaining moving, we have provided Sinai with an updated proposal for scheduling to expedite the process. We proposed having bargaining sessions totalling at least six hours per week (the equivalent of 3 hours per bargaining unit) throughout November, either on the main campus or over Zoom.
The Sinai administration has not yet responded to our proposal, but we hope to hear from them soon so we can schedule enough sessions to reach a fair agreement as quickly as possible.
