Register for our Initial Bargaining Goals Town Hall!
Over the past few weeks, a strong majority of us have completed the bargaining survey to collectively shape our goals for bargaining. We are continuing to assess what is most important to win for all senior researchers in our first union contract. The more information our elected bargaining committee will have on our priorities, the more power we will have to make improvements.
Bargaining Goals Town Hall, Monday, 6/9:
We are writing to invite you to an Initial Bargaining Goals Town Hall where we will have the opportunity to meet our recently elected ROCS-UAW Bargaining Committee and hear from them about initial bargaining goals for our first contract and other next steps. The town hall will be held on Monday, June 9, at 12 pm on campus (location TBA)]. Previous town halls have been a great way to meet with other postdocs and get answers to any questions you may have. Let us know if you can make it!
Voting on our Initial Bargaining Goals, 6/9-6/12:
We will hold our online vote on whether to ratify the initial bargaining goals between Monday, June 9, at 5 am and Thursday, June 12th, at 5 pm. Eligible voters will be Senior researchers (Senior Scientists, Assistant Scientists, Associate Scientists, and instructors who predominantly perform research) currently employed by the institute who have signed an authorization card or filled out a ROCS-UAW Bargaining Survey.
Fill out this survey if you are impacted by NIH funding cancellations:
Our national union, UAW, is one of the plaintiffs in a case filed in federal court by the ACLU that is challenging NIH grant cancellations. If you have been impacted by NIH grant cancellations, please fill out this form by Wednesday, June 11.
The case is seeking to reverse the termination NIH grants (both termination of individual grants/fellowships (including R01, K99/R00, F31, F32 and T32) and termination of grant programs, such as IRACDA or PREP) or grant applications that were delayed without answer or administratively withdrawn by NIH. It is possible that the judge may only act on grants/applications that are reported by the plaintiffs, so if you have been impacted, it’s critical that you fill out this form.
The attorneys have filed a protective order in this case and personally identifying information will be confidential and not released publicly. Here is an FAQ prepared by the attorneys.
